FAIRFIELD — Fairfield will honor veterans of the U.S. armed forces Friday with a Ceremony of Remembrance and concert, and then a downtown parade.
The concert and ceremony begin at 10 a.m. at the Downtown Theatre in the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts, 1035 Texas St. The parade will take place at 12:30 p.m. along Texas Street. The theme is “Pray. Thank. Remember.”
Col. John M. Klein Jr., commander of the 60th Air Mobility Wing at Travis Air Force Base, is the grand marshal. Marching bands, floats, veterans and active duty personnel, equestrian units, classic cars and community groups will be featured.
The celebration is sponsored by the Fairfield Main Street Association and the American Legion.
Other Veterans Day events will also take place in Solano County.
The Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District will host a ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Andrews Park, near the School Street pedestrian bridge.
A Veterans Day Memorial hosted by the Mare Island Historical Park Foundation will begin at 9 a.m. at the Mare Island Cemetery, at the end of Railroad Avenue in Vallejo.
